First-year pupils are currently taking part in a football-themed tournament that involves them being grouped in teams and taking part in activities across the school to earn points.
The pupils had created their own questions to put to Jim which
he answered on film.
His interview was then shown to the first-year classes taking part.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY: Second-year pupils took part in the annual 'Make a Difference' day.
The event is organised by the religious and moral education department and aims to show how religious and non-religious groups are making a difference to society both in Britain and internationally. It also hopes to inspire pupils into thinking about how they can help others in practical ways in the future.
The pupils took part in a series of workshops addressing different issues including 'Justice in the Family', 'Homelessness', 'Coping with AIDS', 'Volunteering', 'Human Rights Wrongs', and 'Criminal Justice'.
A range of visiting speakers included the Rev. Willie Docherty, Mike Cordiner from the homeless organisation, Eagles Wings, Paul Clelland, from Christian Aid, Mr Jim Bell from Carnoustie High School, Ron Oliver from Amnesty International and Reverend Graeme Matthews, the Chaplain at Perth Prison.#
ACHIEVEMENTS NIGHT: Every year, Monifieth High holds a special awards evening to celebrate and recognise the wide range of talent in the school.
At this ceremony, pupils who have achieved recognition in their respective fields of expertise, in a variety of categories within and outwith the school, are formally invited to attend with their parents or guardians and are publicly recognised.
Achievements at local, regional, national and international level are recognised.
In the past recognition has been given to pupils who have achieved within a number of activities/hobbies including various sporting achievements, expressive arts achievements, maths challenges, Crufts, martial arts, ten-pin bowling and rally car driving.
The school is keen to hear from any pupil who has succeeded in an activity/hobby this year. Anyone who thinks they have an achievement that should be recognised at the ceremony should contact PE teacher, Miss Diane Morton, in the first instance.
