The event involves all first-year pupils who are grouped into teams each representing a country. Pupils then take part in a series of events to gain points for their team. 'Eurofieth' follows the highly successful Monifieth High 'World Cup' in 2006.
After the knockout stages and semi-finals, the grand final will take place on Thursday, May 29.
In other subjects pupils will be involved in a range of activities connected with football including:
English - Writing match reports for the games, radio interviews, presenting and a variety of talk activities.
Maths - Completing statistics, performance charts, tables, and enquiring/investigative work.
Modern languages - Coaching foreign teams; learning phrases and customs; finding your way around the host country and completing various problem solving activities.
Social subjects - Learning about European Union issues, the geography of the host country, past winners, past heroes and records. Discussing the morality of competitive sport and the issues surrounding sportsmanship.
Expressive arts - National anthems, pre/post match entertainment, advertising posters, flyers and newspapers. Design a football strip.
Sciences - Studying the diet, nutrition and respiratory functions of sportspeople. Examining the technical advance of equipment and effects and why it has improved performance.
Business and technology - Organising ticket sales, pricing structure for games, financing team participation costs, designing a stadium and creating an internet site.
Health improvement - Run own football competition, hospitality packages/event, dishes from around the world.
Digital media group - Filming the various events and activities within the classes and putting together a movie/producing a TV style show covering event.
'Eurofieth' will also involve the school's cheerleaders putting on a show, the cafeteria running healthy eating promotions and Euro 'deals', and the music department entertaining with a piping display. The event organiser, Mr Paul Cunningham said: "Looks like being a great event in which pupils will experience a range of activities across a variety of subject areas in addition to playing in a full scale Euro championship. The motto for the tournament is 'Eurofieth many nations one goal'."
