Mandown volunteers and supporters celebrate the grand opening of the Montrose drop-in centre.
A group of volunteers from Montrose has launched a new, free service aimed at helping men in the area.

The brainchild of Mary Urquhart, Mandown has been set up to help men deal with all sorts of issues, and hopes to offer a helping hand to anyone feeling they have nowhere to turn.

The Montrose-based charity will be on hand to help with everyday problems, no matter how big or small, offering practical advice and guidance on a range of matters but it’s also there for men who simply need a safe space with someone to talk to. Mandown also provides advice on healthy living as well as helping people access useful resources. Mandown offcially opened the doors to its drop-in centre last Friday and are excited about welcoming those in need.

Chairperson Mary Urquhart said: "Mandown will succeed, because people’s wellbeing is paramount in the vision of what we are trying to achieve, and hopefully in concert with other agencies and organisations we will achieve our goals, making life better for our clients and the local community as a whole."

Fellow volunteer Joe Boyle added: "Mandown can make a difference to people’s lives, and we'll work hard to ensure that it does.”

Mandown is located at 125 High Street Montrose.
