The sun streaming through our office window inspired us to use this picture of summer fun, namely the Pirates’ Parade, a popular feature of Carnoustie’s gala day in years gone by. This picture was taken in 1991 and shows on the left the perennial high street fixture of the Kinloch Arms Hotel, which incidentally has very recently come under new ownership.
In the background is the Fairway Garage, which was built in the 1930s and at this point in its history was most likely serving as a car dealership with a Shell fuel pump. The Halifax Building Society office next to it has had a number of other roles, including art gallery, and is now Connelly & Yeoman estate agents and solicitors.
