Our picture was taken at the British Golf Open Championship during the first week of June, 1931.

In the foreground are Mr A.J. Hughson, London; Gene Sarazen, USA; Johnny Farrall, USA; and Mr R.D. (Bob) Neilson, Arbroath, who acted as marker.

Leaning on the form in the background is Mr John Webster, later Provost of Arbroath.

Many of the Open players also contested the Seddon Approaching and Putting Championship Trophy, prize of 500 guineas. Percy Allis, father of Peter Allis, won the cup after 72 holes.
