BUILDING UP TO FIRST BEER FESTIVAL

THE EXCITEMENT is building at the Kinloch Arms Hotel in Carnoustie as the clock ticks down towards its inaugural Beer Festival.
Next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24, the hotel's beer garden will be the hub for the event which promises to be a cracker.
Mine host at the Kinloch Jonathan McInally has been organising the Beer Festival for the last five months.
And he is looking forward to seeing his work come to fruition when the extravaganza opens its doors on Saturday, August 23, at 1 p.m.
Obviously, the festival will offer fantastic fare for beer lovers, but Jonathan has been keen to provide something for everyone.
"I really wanted to do something different in the town and I hope this will be a real community event," he told the Guide & Gazette.
"Carnoustie has the gala day which is hugely popular and a fantastic day out, but I believe that the summer needs something else.
"With that in mind, families are welcome and local businesses have pledged their support by sponsoring the kegs."
On offer are 30 cask ales including Timothy Taylor Landlord, Fullers Ale, Deuchars IPA and the interestingly titled Inveralmond Inkie Pinkie.
In addition, traditional cask cider will be available, along with a fruit beer and a continental lager, Perroni Nastro Azzuro.
Entertaining the crowds throughout the weekend will be eight live bands, such as local favourites, Little Wolves; Aff the Cuff and a Glasgow band, the Ritchie Gallagher Trio.
The festival is open from 1 to 9 p.m. both days. Tickets, which are available now from the hotel, cost £5 which includes the cost of a patron's first drink.
