A CARNOUSTIE music fan is still being treated in hospital for serious injuries after falling 20 feet from a balcony on to the floor during a Prodigy concert in Dundee on Friday night.

Leigh Reeve (23) was on the upper seating level at the gig in the Caird Hall but ended up plunging on to the dancefloor below, where he sustained a bleed on the brain, a partially collapsed lung and suspected fractures to his spine and pelvis.

D
espite Leigh falling from the balcony, the performance did not stop and it is understood he was moved out of the hall by concert-goers who were worried that Leigh would be trampled on by other audience members who weren't aware of the situation.

This was before he could be examined by first aiders or ambulance staff, but he was then rushed to Ninewells Hospital where his condition was described as serious.

Now police are appealing for information about the incident as they try to establish whether Leigh lost his balance and fell or was pushed.

A statement from Tayside Police said: "At about 10 p.m. on the evening of Friday, January 29, a 23-year-old Angus man appears to have fallen from a balcony in the Caird Hall, Dundee during a concert by the band The Prodigy.

"Tayside Police officers and the Scottish Ambulance Service were quickly at the scene and the man was treated at the Caird Hall by paramedics before being taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance.

"He is currently undergoing treatment at Ninewells Hospital where his condition is described as serious. Tayside Police are investigating the circumstances."

It is thought that Leigh, a former pupil of Carnoustie High School, has been responding to treatment and that he is starting to show some signs of recovery. However, he is still receiving painkilling injections as he is experiencing a lot of discomfort.

Leigh's father, Garry said his son was making slow progress and that he was grateful to medical staff at Ninewells Hospital as well as the police officers who dealt with the incident.

Dundee City Council, who run the Caird Hall, say that they are assisting police with their inquiries.

r Anyone who saw Leigh fall from the balcony or has information regarding this incident is asked to contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222 or speak to any police officer. Alternatively they can call the Crimestoppers hotline anonymously on 0800 555 111.
