CARNOUSTIE and Barry ladies who knit jumpers and hats for Feed the Children have been busy of late and a consignment of 146 jumpers and more than 20 hats has been delivered to the depot in Ruscombe, near Reading, in Berkshire.
Deliveries are made free of charge by BNB Logistics, of Dundee.
Local organiser Mrs May Duffus, Lomond Drive, revealed that a cheque for £70 was enclosed which goes towards shipping costs to places like Uganda.
She explained: "Money is always a problem for Feed the Children as shipping costs are so high."
She went on: "Knitting needles must have been going fast and furious in other parts of the UK as we have been informed that the warehouse in Ruscombe is full meantime, therefore we have to stop knitting striped jumpers and concentrate on V-neck school pullovers.
"I have a specific pattern for these, so anyone wishing to continue knitting with the new instructions should contact me on 01241 410123."
Mrs Duffus said she is aware that there will be some striped jumpers already completed and these will still be collected, as she has arranged for them to be picked up by Blythswood Care on a regular basis.
She concluded: "Our thanks to all who have supported this cause in the past and we hope you are still willing to continue with the changes."
