DUNDEE and Angus Chess Congress is being held next weekend, October 17 to 19, in the Next Generation Club, Ethiebeaton Park, Monifieth.
This will be its fifth year and it has became the biggest chess event in the Tayside area.

The entry form and website have asked for donations for the charity Alzheimer Scotland, and some members are doing additional fund-raising.

As last year, there will be four main events: open championship (open to all); challengers (Players graded below 1800); major (players graded below 1550); minor (players graded below 1300).

This year's sponsors are Angus Council Community Grant Scheme, Open Seas Engineering Ltd and Premier Travel Inn.
