He was ordained in Dunfermline Abbey on July 13, 1958, and was inducted into Monifieth South Church (now part of Monifieth Parish Church) on July 9, 1959.

The Rev. David Lunan, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland attended the service to pass on the congratulations of the General Assembly and to pay tribute to the years of service given by Mr Fraser.
Also in attendance was the Very Reverend Alan Main, a former Moderator of the General Assembly who attended college with the Rev. Fraser.
Mr Main gave an amusing insight to their years at college and spoke of their continued friendship over the years.
On behalf of the congregation Mr Main presented a crystal decanter, glasses and a wallet to Mr Fraser. He also presented a crystal vase to Mrs Nan Fraser to mark her continued support.
The Sunday School and Bible Class gave an entertaining rendition of 'Father Abraham' prior to presenting gifts to Mr Fraser.
Following the service the congregation, friends and colleagues met for a buffet lunch. In the evening a concert with a strong Scottish flavour was held, paying tribute to Mr Fraser's love of music and humour.
Monifieth Boys' Brigade Pipe Band and a Discovery Brass ensemble provided a variety of music; Bob Sutherland provided two amusing monologues.
The evening was compered by Mr Fraser's brother, Jock, who played Scottish country dance music on his accordion.
But the highlight of the occasion was the rendition of 'The Wee Kirkcudbright Centipede' by Mr Fraser. After thanks from Mr Fraser and his wife, Nan, the day concluded with the audience joining the pipers in the evening hymn.
