FOLLOWING their mega balloon launch last month, Carlogie Primary pupils have been eagerly waiting the return of the labels attached to the balloons in order to determine which balloon travelled furthest.
The 'owner' of that balloon would be the recipient of a Toys R Us gift card courtesy of the Carlogie Parent Council.

At the school prize-giving held on Tuesday, David Cheape, chairman of the Parent Council, announced that more than 80 balloon labe
ls had been returned and more were continuing to arrive. Some label returns had a number of stories attached.

One balloon was found on Portobello Beach in Edinburgh by a former pupil now resident in Edinburgh. Another was found on Cramond Island by a visiting group of German pupils who took the label back to Gottingen in Germany and then wrote advising of their find - perhaps an opportunity for Carlogie to forge links with their European counterparts?

One elderly gentleman from Blairgowrie on finding a balloon in Fife put pen to paper and composed 'The Carlogie Balloon'.
Aidan Gallagher, Carlogie Primary School, released the balloon which was returned from the greatest distance. He received his prize from David Cheape, chairman of Carlogie Parent Council.

'O Michty Me, O Michty Me
Whit hae we got here?
A Carlogie balloon frae Carnoustie
Lyin' by the sea
It's done quite weel tae get this far
O'er country an' the sea
It landed near Dalmeny
An' waited there for me
A think yer balloon is really great
An gies guid fun tae aw
An' me but seventy-two years old
An' fun like this is braw!
I'll keep a keen eye open
For things up in the sky
'Cause anither Carlogie balloon
Micht jist come flyin' by'

The furthest travelled balloon belonged to Aidan Gallacher of P3a whose balloon was found in South Queensferry, some 45 miles from Carlogie as the crow flies.
