Julie joined the Royal Air Force in January, 2001 as a personnel administrator and is currently stationed in London. She has completed tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Beirut, and detachments to Nairobi, Falkland Islands, Malaysia and Mozambique.

She has also helped to raise money for various charities by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and completing the 64-mile South Downs run helping to raise over £4,000.

This is the second time Julie has been to Buckingham Palace; in 2006 she received an achievement award in recognition of her work.

Julie's mum, Nancy, who works at the J.M. Bakery in the town, said it was a very proud day for the whole family.
