MUIRFIELD (Contracts) Ltd., has been awarded the £541,556 contract for the alteration and extension of Monifieth High School to create a new community learning and development centre for the burgh.
On Thursday Angus Council's Corporate Services Committee approved the tender for the construction of the single-story extension to the school. The new part of the building will house a café/venue area, activity rooms and recording studio in addition to an office, storage areas and toilets.

Commenting on the project, Corporate Services vice-convener John Whyte said the new building would be an asset to the Monifieth community.

He said: "Not only will the new centre be a valuable addition to the facilities in the burgh, the construction project is a welcome economic boost for the local building sector."

The overall project cost is £668,576. This covers all construction costs.
