FLOODING hit the west end of Carnoustie on Wednesday morning following a biblical amount of overnight rain.
Nine properties in the MacDonald Smith Drive area have been flooded after a artery of the Barry Burn spilled over early this morning.
And concerns have been heightened with today's high tide due at 1.30 p.m. and more heavy rain expected over the
coming days.
Tayside Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at 6.45 a.m after resident's grew concerned at the ever increasing water levels.
Two tenders from Carnoustie and Balmossie were in attendance and deployed water pumps in an attempt to clear the water.
Angus Council employees also rushed to the scene complete with a pallet of emergency sandbags to protect homes.

Flooding has hit the west end of Carnoustie.
One resident told the Guide & Gazette: "We started noticing the water level increasing when the burn at back of our home broke at 5 a.m. The fire brigade and Angus Council were here straight away and their prompt service has prevented any major damage to the inside of my property."
As the morning wore on council staff from the roads department were present in Thomas Street, MacDonald Smith Drive and Ravensby Road assisting residents by handing out sandbags.
A council spokesperson explained: "There are still some concerns about the situation in the Thomas Street, Ravensby Road and MacDonald Smith Drive areas. The council is continuing to monitor the situation in conjunction with the fire service and Scottish Water."
