MAN (31) ASSAULTED IN MONIFIETH

POLICE in Monifieth have appealed for witnesses following an assault in the town in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A spokesman said: "About 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 17, an assault occurred outside the Old Royal Inn, High Street, Monifieth. This resulted in a 31-year-old man sustaining a laceration to his back.

"The victim was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance and subsequently released following treatment.

"A 19-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Monday, August 18.

"Tayside Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information, make contact with them on 0845 600 5705 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
