THEATRE Recovery Nurse at Ninewells Hospital, Marion Stewart, from Monifieth, retired on Tuesday after 40 years' service with NHS Tayside.

She started her training at Dundee Royal Infirmary where she went on to become a staff nurse in Ward 7.

After getting married to Harry she continued at DRI until 1972 when she left to have children.

In 1975, following an appeal by Ninewells f
or nurses to help due to a 'flu outbreak, Marion returned to work.

She started in Ward 27 (ENT) but later moved to theatre recovery where she ended her career.

Marion said: "I will miss the patients very much but I feel it's time to call it a day and spend time doing all the things I would like to do."

Her husband retires in a few years and they both plan to travel as much as they can.

"In the meantime," continued Marion, "I shall be busy with our three grandchildren and looking for new hobbies to try. I also hope to organise a class reunion with my former colleagues."
