THE MONIFIETH Company of the St Andrew's Ambulance Association will celebrate its centenary in 2011.
Members are already looking for memories or memorabilia, such as photographs or memories from former Corps members or members of the public who have attended first aid classes.
Members of the Monifieth Company were always on hand at the first aid
post at the beach every weekend, when there was still lots of sand to attract families and visitors.
The Company still serves the community by attending functions such as the Medieval Fayre, the Christmas light switch-on and by teaching youngsters first aid. They also give talks in the area.
Member, Seonaid McGurk asks: "Does anyone remember regular meetings in the old Monifieth Railway Station? We were registered as the Monifieth Railway Company. I have been told of the exercise with the stretcher where someone was strapped to it and carried over the bridge to the other platform. Are there any other memories?"
The Cadet Section of St Andrew's Ambulance Brigade was established in 1954 and has a well-attended section today. Members are working towards the President's Award.
Seonaid says: "If anyone has Cadet memories, please let us know."
If you have any memorabilia that you would be pleased to lend or allow to be used in a display or booklet, please contact Judith Child on 01382 370450 or Seonaid McGurk on 01382 534606.
The next Standard First Aid Course will start on Monday, September 1 at 7 p.m. in the Panmure Church hall, Panmure Street, Monifieth. If you require more information, please contact Seonaid on the above number.
