A FURTHER 200 signatures were added to a petition on Saturday, opposing proposed changes at Balmossie Fire Station.
It is intended to reduce night-time cover to part-timers, while retaining full-time cover during the day.

The petition was on public display at Dobbies Garden Centre.

The Save Balmossie Fire Station campaign is being led by a recently-retired fireman, Eddie Thomson, who said that nobody he had spoken to could understand why there were plans to downgrade Balmossie.

He pointed out that there are around 25,000 people living in the area, and that planning permission has been granted for another 300 homes, meaning that even more people would be potentially affected by the changes.

Mr Thomson urged people to contact councillors, MPs and MSPs to have the proposals shelved.
