HEARTFELT tributes were paid by family members at the funeral of Carnoustie lady Mrs Ann Geddes on Friday.
The 61-year-old had died in tragic circumstances four weeks previously.

Speaking at Carnoustie Church her daughter, Angela, expressed thanks to everyone who has helped the police in their enquiries and the residents of Panbride Road for their pa
tience and co-operation.

She continued: "It was so touching for us as a family to know that the flag of Carnoustie Ladies' Golf Club, which is the oldest ladies' golf club in the world and where Mum was a member, had been lowered to half-mast."

Angela spoke of her mother's immense contribution to maternity services in Leeds, adding: "Her knowledge of midwifery was immense. If you didn't know what to do, you rang Ann Geddes. She had an enviable reputation for rolling up her sleeves and getting on with the job."

And she recalled a recent 13-mile Great North Run in which she and her mother had participated, Mrs Geddes doing so at the age of 58.

Angela said: "When I met her at the finish line, having only just finished myself, I asked how her run had gone. I expected her to say how difficult one of the hills was, or that her legs were tired, or that she needed some water, but her answer was simply, 'Well, that was great, I've met some really interesting people on the way round!'"

Tribute was also paid by Angela's brother, Ian.

The Rev. Michael Goss read a statement on behalf of Mrs Geddes' family: "The immediate family: her daughter Angela and her partner Dave, her mother Jean, sister Helen, brothers Ian and Alan, nephews Joe, Sam, Scott, Drew and Laurie, nieces Nichole and Morgan and aunt Maud would like to thank the police for their professionalism and diligence, the Fiscal's office and the undertakers, the church and its members for their support; in particular organist Colin Armstrong, all of Ann's friends and colleagues for their reminiscences, everyone who sent cards, letters and flowers, all our friends for their hugs, kind words and thoughtful gestures."

Mrs Geddes' husband, Roger Beattie Sutherland Paige Geddes (60), has been charged with her murder.
