BLACKADDERS Solicitors have refused to confirm or deny speculation that branch offices are to close.
Rumours have been circulating in Carnoustie that the office there will close as part of a cost-cutting exercise.

But a spokesman for the PR firm representing Blackadders told us this week that everything would be resolved in a week or two, at the end of a consultation period.

Blackadders recently took over the long-established Arbroath firm of Gourlay McBain, which had a branch in Carnoustie.

And because Blackadders already had a branch in Carnoustie they closed their acquisition's office there.

But rumours abound that the Blackadders office is to close, too.
It is also being suggested that the Kirriemuir office is at risk.
Blackadders are heavily involved in estate agency and conveyancing work, and it is believed that the sudden reduction of activity in this sector has left them with unused capacity.

In July, Blackadders announced its intention of cutting up to a quarter of its 240 staff.

A small number have taken voluntary redundancy, and it is believed that around 40 more will be selected for redundancy under a points-scoring system.
