THE SNP have recorded a huge victory in the Angus Council Monifieth and Sidlaw ward by-election.
Their candidate, Jean Lee, took 2,486 of the votes cast to win the seat.

Conservative Craig Fotheringham was second with 698 votes, with Charles Goodall of the Lib Dems third on 439.

The turnout was low, being only 28.73 per cent.

The by-election was called following the death of long-serving councillor Frank Ellis.

We will have more on this story, including an interview with Jean Lee, later.
