A MONIFIETH man is among 500 people from across the UK who will work for a charity of their choice full-time for two months or part-time for four months, supported by the Vodafone Foundation.
Over 5,000 people registered interest for the programme which will see placements start in March.
Alex Graham, Fotheringham Drive, has chosen to work part-time for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, a charity that provides help and support for cancer victims and their carers based at specialist centres in cancer hospitals.
His role will be to promote Maggie’s throughout the Tayside area.
On hearing that he had won a placement, Alex commented: “I am looking forward to starting my placement with Maggie’s Dundee.
“As a cancer patient, Maggie’s have helped me through various stages of my own illness and I would be very pleased to encourage more cancer sufferers to discover the services and facilities available so they too benefit from them.”
This is the third year that the Vodafone Foundation has delivered a UK World of Difference programme, giving 500 people the chance to make a difference.
Last year, 79 per cent of those who took part have stayed connected to their charity, giving the UK’s third sector much needed support.
