All to still to play for, says Ian

PANMURE manager Ian Gilzean believes continuing their good run could see the Gowfers’ season end on a high.

After demolishing Bathgate Thistle 7-1 at the weekend in what was the best result of their campaign, things are looking positive for the Gowfers.

Ian said: “Yes, that was a great win, I’m really, really happy with that, delighted even.

“We played really well. I think Bathgate probably weren’t as strong as they have been earlier in the season, but you can only play what’s in front of you.”

But as always, Ian is looking at both sides of the story. He explained: “It’s got to be up there as one of our best games because of the scoreline.

“Although we have played better in some games like against Bo’ness or Linlithgow Rose at home and away when we got beaten but played well.

“They’re higher up in the league than us and we’ve played better than that and lost this season.

“At the end of the day, to go and score seven goals away from home is just superb.”

Ian is now looking forward to tomorrow (Saturday) against Kelty Hearts and hopes the Gowfers’ current form will see them claw their way back up the table.

He said: “We need to keep winning games or drawing. Bathgate have 21 points and that’s a great total for us to aim for. We need to get seven points from the last few games.”

Asked if he was confident, he replied: “Definitely. We’re unbeaten in the last five or six league games. We’re on a good run and we need to keep that going. Away to Kelty is going to be another tough game, but it’s a game we need to go and win.”
