Angus gets new cycle festival

The Scottish Mountain Bike Consortium (SMBC), in association with Angus Council and Angus Mountain Bike Trails Association (AMBTA), have announced that a new cycling festival will take place in Angus this year September 13-14.

The festival will see a number of fantastic events taking place in Angus including a headline Enduro Mountain Bike Race being organised by race organisers Muckmedden, a round of The Scottish Cycling Big Tree Campervans Youth Cross Country Race series, family-friendly cycle rides, Balance Bike races for toddlers, Road Rides and much much more.

The festival hub and event village is due to be located at Forfar Loch and will give the public the opportunity to test ride bicycles from major manufacturers, sample local quality food, speak to local clubs and even try their hand on a massive stunt airbag and Pump Track racing.

The festival is being organised by the SMBC and is being part funded by Angus Council through European Regional Development Funding.

Scott Francis, from the SMBC, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Angus Council, and although its early days yet, we’re progressing well and starting to make contact with local clubs and business’s to help support the event.

“Angus really is a fantastic region for cycling and we think its about time that the regions assets were put on display!”
