THE LAST time Angus Pony Club won the Prince Philip Cup was in 1968 when Andrew Reid, The Hillocks Farm, Broughty Ferry, was a team member.

And the time before that was in 1963 when his two brothers, David and John Reid, were in the team which was trained by their father, David.

This year the club games team has qualified for the six-team final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from October 3 to 7 and Andrew is now their trainer.

He has trained the games teams since 1985 but the last time a team from Angus qualified for the finals was in 1984.

He commented: “The Prince Philip Cup was devised to be entertaining, visually engaging and to enhance rider skills and team work.

“We are very grateful for the support offered already from our neighbours at The Brae Riding School with whom we have a very good working relationship, and we would welcome any further offers of donations, support and equipment.”
