Carnoustie High School’s annual awards evening was held recently. The occasion celebrated academic success, high standards in behaviour and studies as well as sporting success.
The principal guest was retiring Police Constable Mark Callision who also presented the awards.
Recipients were: Joint Dux of the school – Clare Paton and Jessica Blackburn and Junior Dux – Molly Gunn.
Citizenship trophies were awarded to Stephanie Barr and Robert Ritchie. Mark Callision was presented with the Andrew Welsh Cup for services to the school community.
Music was provided by the school brass ensemble and a solo piece by Peter Jackson who also won the Award for Excellence in Music.
A new award, The Andy Coogan Trophy, has been gifted to the school to recognise achievement in athletics. Andy Coogan is a long time supporter of athletics and a founder of the local Carnoustie Athletics Club and most recently had the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch.
Pupils and staff were delighted that Andy Coogan was available to attend the ceremony and present the trophy to the winner, Shona Townsend.
