AN ANGUS chess society will be holding their annual competition this weekend.
The Dundee and Angus Chess Congress will open tonight (Friday) at the David Lloyd Leisure Centre at Ethiebeaton Park, Monifieth, and will run until Sunday.
The congress is held every October and provides competitive chess for players of all ages and levels of experience.
The competition will be split into three events to cater for the wide range of age, experience and strength of the players.
Around 130 players are expected from across Britain, with approximately 30 of those being under 16.
They will play five games of three and a half hours apiece.
There will be live streaming of the event, and two games will be broadcast live through the society’s website at www.dundee-congress.co.uk.
The congress will close on Sunday with the presentation of prizes by Depute Provost Peter Murphy.
