FORMER Royal Marines of 45 Commando assembled at Barry Buddon on Sunday for a Falklands War memorial service.
Every year the veterans and families of 13 servicemen from RM Condor who did not return from the conflict in the South Atlantic gather at the memorial gardens on Barry Buddon.
The service was conducted by The Rev. Ian Gough and guests of honour were Lieutenant Colonel Ian Ballantyne and Tim Donovan who is the chairman of the East of Scotland Branch of The Royal Marines Association. Piper was Jim Doig and The Last Post was played by Bugler Jeff Smart.
Next year is the 30th anniversary of the Falklands conflict and a reunion is being organised by former WO2 Sergeant Major Mike (George) Mechin.
Former Falklands veterans are welcome to attend the event which will be held on June 8, 9 and 10. Further details are available at the website at eastofscotlandbranchrma.org.uk
