Another good year for Lifeboat Guild

The Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild held their annual general meeting at which it was announced that nearly £50,000 had been raised last year.

According to treasurer Ann Watt after expenditures had been deducted the grand total of £49,384 was raised through a number of avenues between January and December 2012.

The ladies of the guild raised a £15,933.06 through their efforts which included the blue pyramid boxes, annual subscriptions, Flag Day and coffee mornings.

The big earners in this category included the race night which realised £1,251.71, Sea Fest which realised £1,663.85 and the house to house collections during Flag Week with a huge £4,990.70.

The net sales of the RNLI shop at the Lifeboat shed amounted to £5,476 which along with £1,080 from SOS events makes the Guild contribution for 2012 a total of £22,489.06. Donations from crew efforts, schools, youth groups, fund-raising friends and In Memoriam bequests totalled £21,806.42.

Expenditures tallied from running events such as the SOS Ceilidh, coffee mornings, Sea Fest and race night came to £672.62.

Committee members elected were: Margaret McAndrew; Sonia Nelson; Rhona Goodfellow; Audrey McGregor; Darlene McLeod; Barbra Chapel; Irene Farnell; Gillian Bain; Elaine Milne; Irene Wright; Elizabeth Ferris; Maureen Campbell; Claire Hartley; Iris Smith; Edith Cargill and Judith Sanderson.
