MEMBERS of Arbroath Royal British Legion Scotland Pipe Band had a successful and enjoyable day on Saturday at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green. Playing in the Grade 4a category the band qualified for the final in fifth place.
Pipe Major Stephen Russell said: “The band did themselves and Arbroath proud in reaching the final of their grade in what is the pinnacle of the pipe band competing calendar. A total of 235 bands from 11 countries were competing on Saturday and to be part of a spectacle of such a grand scale is amazing.
“For the many young people we have in our band it is a great experience and to achieve such a high standard is due to the hard work and dedication of all our band members who practice tirelessly.”
The band also had a sixth place in the Scottish Championships earlier in the year as well as picking up a few first places at minor contests in the local area.
