Villagers in Auchmithie held a dress rehearsal of their historical re-enactment in time for the annual HAAR festival tomorrow (Saturday).

The ninth annual heritage festival, based around the village hall will see Ecky Dunder, Maggie Swankie and all the other historic residents who will re-enact the history of the village out on the streets of Auchmithie itself.

At Fountain Square there will be fishwifies doing their washing, at the look-out they’ll be baiting their lines all the while having a good gossip!

The re- enactment starts at 1 p.m. at the village hall where visitors will be met by ‘Mrs Gilruth’ who will introduce them to the village and characters.

Parking is available and a regular bus service will be running from Arbroath.

The event is free and all will be made most welcome.

All the usual attractions will be available such as a tea room in the village hall, crafts, a flower festival in the church and a display of fascinating archive material.

Delicious fish snacks will also be on sale including the famous Smokie being prepared fresh from a barrel outside the village hall. Tea and refreshments will be available in the village hall from 1 to 4.30 p.m.
