A Dundee award winning children’s author, and recipient of the prestigious Blue Peter Book Award, judged Angus Writers’ Circle to judge their children’s writing competition.

Pamela Butchart, who is also a teacher in Tayside, is the author of picture books as well as a chapter book series about a school girl named Izzy and her kooky adventures. The debut novel in the series ‘Baby Aliens Got My Teacher’, was shortlisted for The Red House Children’s Book Award. It was her 2014 book The Spy Who Loved School Dinners, which received the Blue Peter Prize.

After talking to the group about her road to success, and offering the group some invaluable advice on getting published, she announced the Angus Writer’s children’s picture book competition winner as Kerry Fleming for her book ‘The Best Spell Maker’ in the World.

Second prize went to Elizabeth Frattaroli for her book ‘Mess Monster’ and third prize went to Liz Strachan for her book ‘Big Louis and the Garden Birds’.
