THE COMMITTEE behind a charity ball in aid of lesser known armed forces charities presented the proceeds to their chosen causes earlier this week.

On Tuesday night the organisers of the second Angus 4 Forces charity ball presented cheques totalling £8,000 to the four armed forces charities they support.

The black tie ball was held in the luxurious surroundings of the Carnoustie Golf Hotel earlier this year and was organised by Chic and Barbara Grant, Valerie Hughes and Jennifer John.

The four charities receiving cheques were Commando999, Combat Stress, Scottish Veterans’ Residences and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmens and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help.

Plans are already in motion for next year’s ball with a date already set.

Chic said: “The organisers would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who donated the prizes for the auction, which went a long way to making our fund-raising ball such a success.

“We had a cracking turnout, not as many as last year as there were a lot of call offs but we still raised the same amount of money as last year, and actually increased it slightly.

“This year’s ball was another great success and we look forward to next year when the ball will be held in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on October 26.”
