LAST Sunday, members of Carnoustie and District Pipe Band along with family, friends and followers took part in a fancy dress sponsored walk between Monifieth and Carnoustie to raise funds for uniforms, instruments and running costs.
The band set off from Monifieth at 10 a.m. on a beautiful day and headed along the cycle path, playing the pipes and drums continuously.
Following a much needed water break at Barry Station, the participants made their way alongside the Carnoustie Golf Course.
The final leg was from the west end of Links Parade along to the picnic area just beyond the Carnoustie Leisure Centre.
Every member had made a great effort in gathering sponsorships and donations in the previous months and together with a collection along the route, at the time of going to press it is known that the band had collected at least £1,611.
Pipe Major Ian Campbell stated: “This is a fantastic amount of money that has been raised for our cause and we are fortunate to have been generously sponsored and supported by local businesses, members of the public, work colleagues and family and friends alike.
“It is always difficult to fund-raise at any time of the year, especially when times are hard and when there are so many really good causes out there.
“The cash will allow us to purchase uniforms and instruments for the many youngsters joining the ranks and we are very grateful to everyone who contributed.”
