FOUR members of the 1st Carnoustie Boys’ Brigade, who are undertaking their Queen’s Badge, ran the Glasgow half-marathon accompanied by one of their officers.

Andrew MacCallum, Scott Lorimer, Gavin Addison and Jed Smith, with officer Cameron Morrison, trained for several months as part of the activities section of the badge.

The boys decided they wanted to raise money for charity so are supporting the ‘Level 8 Project’ run by Mr Bell, a staff-member at Carnoustie High School which the boys attend. The charity does fantastic work in Rwanda, Nepal and Brazil.

The group raised £1,104.27 towards building a vocational college in Rowanda to take orphaned boys and girls off the street and teach them vital skills.

Mr Bell gratefully accepted the cheque on Friday and explained how the money would be used. Over the past two years the charity has raised £74,000 pounds.
