At Wednesday night’s meeting of Monifieth Rotary Club held in Grange Golf Club, members heard about the local befriending project.
They were addressed by Jane McArtney, development coordinator of Monifieth Befriending Scheme.
She revealed that Monifieth has the highest proportion of elderly residents in Tayside, which means local health services are under huge pressure.
The scheme provides a vital service which not only reduces isolation, but also has additional benefits including improved physical health. It currently has 25 volunteers but is on the lookout for more helpers.
Stuart Robison presided and Jack Philp proposed the vote of thanks.
