Big turnout hoped for at Broughty dook

THE TRADITIONAL New Year Dook at Broughty Ferry harbour will take place next week.

On Tuesday afternoon, at 2.30 p.m. brave ‘dookers’ will gather to plunge into the frigid water to dispel those festive cobwebs.

The event, organised by Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association, last year attracted over 300 participants, and it is hoped this total can be beaten on Tuesday.

Fancy dress is encouraged, with a prize for the best outfit and the Boys’ Brigade band will provide music prior to the dook.

Those wishing to register should visit www.yeaaba.org.uk and entry is £15 which will go toward supporting the group’s swimming activities.
