This year’s bonfire night celebrations were preceded as usual by a host of events organised by the Carnoustie Gala Committee.
The pumpkin carving competition last Wednesday was won jointly by Anne Scott and Megan Gowans with runner-up Bayly Russell.
The coffee morning on Saturday raised a total of £515 and the Guy Fawkes competition was won by Panmure Pre-School group with runners-up 6th Brownies.
Judges for those competitions were Janet Franco and Gary Miller, Craig Murray and Oona Wardrop respectively.
Ed Oswald from the Gala Committee was pleased with the evening as a whole, despite there being a hiccup with the torchlight parade.
He said: “The torchlight parade was very successful and we were blessed with the weather after a terrible afternoon.
“There were some problems with the torches and we hope to have that rectified for next year. We’ve complained to the suppliers about it, but it was a good night and I think everybody enjoyed the torchlight parade, bonfire and the fireworks.”
