CARNOUSTIE Community councillors say they are “delighted” that Network Rail will shortly be refurbishing rail overbridges in the town.
The community council was given a start date of sometime this autumn for work to begin on the two bridges at Park Avenue/Links Parade and Tayside Street/Ireland Street.
Assurances were given that work would definitely be carried out, a spokesperson for Network Rail said: “However, should the work not commence at that time we will be carrying out the work during the course of this financial year.”
Carnoustie Community Council vice chairman Ed Oswald said: “After the cosmetic painting of the bridges recently, I am delighted that after years of campaigning by the community council, this work will shortly take place.”
The foot bridges form part of the series of passageways that cross the railway line bisecting the town and includes two road tunnels, a foot tunnel, a small road bridge and the main crossing point on Station Road.
