Exciting journeys

AT THE meeting of Monifieth Trefoil Guild at the Boyack Centre last Friday, the ladies were given an interesting account by Miss Katie Wilkinson of her adventures at International Guide Camp last July.

She explained the selection process and the excitement then of knowing that she had been chosen to attend the camp in Belgium. Along with a photographic presentation she told members of the new friendships she had made, the many camp activities she had taken part in, and visits to Ghent, Bruges and Brussels.

She was enthusiastic about the opportunity she had been given and is now passing on this enthusiasm to the girls in her Guide Unit.

In the second half of the meeting, members were given an account of the adult Guiding of Mrs Georgie Anderson. Mrs Anderson, having joined as a Brownie and working up to Guide Captain, came back into Guiding in Johnstone.

After several weekends at Guidehaven, Lochgoilhead, which offered canoeing, sailing, abseiling and hiking, along with other wonderful opportunities, Georgie became secretary and treasurer at Guidehaven

Through friendships made there, she was given the opportunity to attend International Guide Camp in Norway. In 1994 Georgie relocated to Dundee and quickly joined the Trefoil Guild.

She became council member for Scotland and attended the UK Trefoil Guild Council in London.

Mrs Anne Tough presided and Mrs Elsie Welch gave the vote of thanks.
