Broughty Ferry volunteer lifeboat crews were called out on Saturday, August 27, to a sailing dinghy which had capsized on the River Tay.

One of Broughty Ferry’s lifeboats were called upon to attend an incident on the River Tay where a solo sailing dinghy had capsized. The RNLI crew were alerted at 3.39pm and were en route in the Inshore lifeboat within six minutes of the call coming in to them.

Quickly on scene just north of the Horseshoe Buoy the lifeboat crew found the boat upturned. The volunteers got into the water and quickly righted the boat before towing it back to the lifeboat station where the boats owner took over and continued the remainder of its journey alone to the grassy beach.

The inshore lifeboat had returned to station by 4.40pm where its crew prepared it for any further calls.
