WORK on the footway and cycle path which runs from Easthaven to the site of the former Dowrie Works in Arbroath is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
The new path will extend from the existing Carnoustie to Easthaven cycleway, which was completed in 2009.
Creation of the link between Easthaven and Arbroath will complete a continuous, largely off-road coastal cycle path between Arbroath and the boundary with Dundee City Council.
The new path runs for most of its length alongside the railway line, until it reaches the site of the former Dowrie Works. From here, it utilises the existing Dowrie Works access road and the path link and bridge over the Elliot Water to the West Links.
The route requires the construction of three timber pedestrian bridges at the Easthaven end of the path and cycleway, two of which have already been completed.
Contractor for the £212,777.56 project is Dundee Plant Company Ltd., which started on site on April 16.
