Top architects from Angus and Tayside were on Monday shown the merits of using Angus sandstone in their designs.
A nine-strong delegation arrived at Pitairlie Quarry near Monikie after accepting an invitation by the managing director of Denfind Stone Ltd, Brian Binnie.
The group members regularly take part in outings to areas of professional interest, and also participated in a question and answer session which examined the many uses of Pitairlie’s unique product.
Mr Binnie commented: “We were honoured to host this gathering of such eminent professionals and look forward to building up strong relationships helping to promote the continued use of Scottish sandstone.
“We would like to see this quality Angus product continue to be used in construction projects across the country.”
Denfind Stone Ltd opened its new £1.2 million head office and production plant earlier this year.
The company continues to attract major contracts across the UK and one of the latest is a supply and build project at Inverness campus.
Denfind Stone specialises in the supply of sandstone for building, cladding, landscaping and drystone dyking. The Pitairlie sandstone is sourced and recycled from the firm’s quarry in Angus, making it a particularly environmentally friendly stone as there is no quarrying process involved in the extraction.
The firm can supply natural guillotined or sized sandstone in a variety of colours. These include grey sandstone, buff sandstone, red sandstone, green sandstone or a variety of mixed coloured sandstone. The sandstone is ideal for cladding on new builds, extensions and renovation projects.
It is easily handled and delivered on to site in manageable half tonne bags, making it easy to use on the ground and on scaffolding.
Denfind Stone also supply hand picked dyking stone. The Pitairlie Scottish sandstone is naturally flat bedded and is found by dykers to be ideal for dykes, retaining walls and landscaping projects.
They have a team of highly skilled drystone dykers and stone masons and other stone services include design and consultancy, feature stones, stone sculptures, stone fireplaces, stone garden seats and outdoor kitchens.
