Improvements are in store at the Co-op in Carnoustie, which will re-open on Friday (December 2), following a £1 million investment to transform the shop.
The new-look store will be officially launched by pupils from the three local primary schools - Burnside, Woodlands and Carlogie - at 9am.
The store on High Street has been redefined with a focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials, and will offer an improved in-store bakery range.
It will feature the Co-op’s iconic new blue clover-leaf branding.
Lorraine Doig, manager of Carnoustie’s Co-op, said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Carnoustie, and delighted that we have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team.
“The Co-op is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit, and our new community room will be a great space for local groups to meet.
“As well as raising money for local charities, we will also be supporting the Co-op’s national partnership with British Red Cross to confront loneliness.”
The refurbishment coincides with the company’s new membership offer, which gives Co-op members an automatic one per cent personal reward back on purchases of its own-branded products and services, with a further one per cent reward supporting local community groups and charities.
Groups set to benefit in the Carnoustie area are Carnoustie Befrienders, Carnoustie Community Helpline and Carnoustie Panmure Football Club (SCIO).
Members of the Co-op can choose which of these causes they wish to support online.
Local causes interested in benefiting from the next round of funding have until December 16 to apply by visiting https://causes.coop.co.uk/.
The store will also highlight its community pioneer role, where members of the food store team will work to foster involvement in community activities, helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs including support for the British Red Cross.
There are offers and promotions in and around the new store to mark its launch. And, students in Carnoustie who hold a Young Scot card receive a 10 per cent discount off their groceries in the store. Exclusions apply, please see in store for details.
