AN ANGUS charity in financial straits was on the verge of closing its doors when churches across the county intervened.
Just over one month ago, Arbroath-based charity Starter Packs Angus, which provides essential household items for people who could not otherwise afford them, was plagued by funding problems.
In a last-ditch attempt to solve its cashflow crisis the charity approached the Angus Presbytery.
The response was phenomenal. Churches throughout Angus raised almost £1,500 in a single week.
A spokesperson from Starter Packs Angus expressed just how grateful the charity was. He said: “We were barely a week from having to close the door.
“The churches’ response was amazing.”
