CELEBRATIONS got under way at Braehill Lodge Care Home in Carnoustie on Monday as the finishing touches were put on to the building’s new extension.

The facility has expanded in size and now boasts eight new en suite bedrooms, increasing the number of bedrooms at the home from 16 to 24. En suite bathrooms have also been added to each of the existing private rooms and all dayrooms have been refurbished in order to bring added comfort to the home’s residents.

Braehill Lodge opened 19 years ago and provides full time residential care facilities. Twenty members of staff are employed and a further six will be taken on when the eight new bedrooms are occupied in due course.

Clydesdale Bank delivered £706,000 to fund the extension in the form of a long term loan and overdraft facility as part of its Investing for Growth strategy - an initiative which helps successful businesses to grow.

Graeme Muir, partner at Clydesdale Bank’s Edinburgh Financial Solutions Centre, said: “Braehill Lodge is an established care home with strong roots in the Carnoustie community. Having banked with Clydesdale for the best part of 20 years, we were delighted to offer the business further support as they embarked on the next stage of their development.

“The care home sector is one of rising importance to Clydesdale Bank, and as it continues to grow we will look to develop more partnerships in this area. We look forward to many more years of working with Braehill Lodge, and to helping its owners – Noreen and Alex Rowe - grow their business further over the long term.”

Owners of Braehill Lodge, Noreen and Alex Rowe, run the care home in partnership with full time service manager, Barbara Masterson. Noreen said: “Our residents’ requirements are of paramount importance to us, and through their feedback we know that they are all extremely pleased with the new facilities that are now in place at Braehill.

“There is a great deal of demand for facilities like ours in the local area and we would be delighted to show interested parties around our new look building so they can examine at our new bedrooms and extension.

“In looking to expand our business, Alex and I felt it was important to work with the correct finance partner, and Clydesdale Bank had a lot to offer in supporting our ambitions for the future of the business.”
