International golf holiday specialists were impressed recently during a week-long tour of Carnoustie Country’s golf and tourist attractions.
The group of European tour operators and golf writers were the guests of Carnoustie Country, the Angus Council led initiative promoting the region’s golf accommodation, food, drink and hospitality.
The week-long stay was in conjunction with VisitScotland, the Fife Golf Partnership and the International Association of Golf Tour Operators and aimed to develop Carnoustie Country’s presence in the European market.
During their visit the group played Carnoustie Championship, Monifieth Medal, Edzell and Blairgowrie Rosemount, experienced hickory golf at Montrose Medal and also visited Glamis Castle and Kinnettles Castle.
Among those impressed by what was on offer was Toby Meegan of Norwegian golf tour specialists 1Golf.com. He said: “We’re looking forward with pride to sending our clients to Carnoustie Country.
“The golfing heritage of the area is truly inspiring - very few places in the world can offer such a fantastic history of golf or such quality and diversity of golf courses within such a relatively small geographical area.
“In addition, the hospitality and food is fantastic, there’s a fabulous range of quality accommodation on offer, the scenery provides a truly spectacular backdrop – and there’s so much for everybody to see and do, not only golfers.”
