Broughty businesses have got it in the bag with a clever new initiative to their campaign to boost trade and tourism in the Ferry.
As part of the Broughty Ferry Traders Association’s promise to foster and promote trade in the town, they have produced a calendar and a bespoke Broughty shopping bag.
The calendar is created as part of the Broughty Ferry Calendar competition with the winner featured on the front and the 13 finalists inside.
As well as the £100 grand prize for the winner all the finalists will be featured on www.cometobroughty.co.uk
Sales of the calendar also raise several thousand pounds each year which is used to support town events such as Gala Week and the Christmas Lights Night.
A new initiative for 2015 is the Broughty Bag, a sturdy shopper bag which features a fun and instantly recognisable image of the Ferry, designed by H.B. Rutherford Design and Print Consultants at no charge to BFTA.
The bag was fabricated thanks to Sandra Thomson of McGregor Balfour Textiles Ltd and, like the calendar, will be available from shops throughout Broughty Ferry. The bag is part of a new promotional drive by the Traders Association and it is hoped that it will become a ‘must have’ item.
BTFA Chair, Steve James said: “We’re really excited by these initiatives which reflect the high quality people have come to expect from Ferry Traders but which will also do a great job in promoting the town.
“We’ve been working on them for most of the year now – so we’re delighted that they’ll be ready in plenty of time for Christmas. The only downside for me, personally, is that very few of my friends and family will be surprised by their gifts this Christmas!”
