Homes and businesses in Monifieth are set to benefit from fibre broadband, it has been announced today (Thursday).
More than 1,450 properties will have access thanks to the £410 million Digital Scotland Partnership.
Monifieth along with 37 other places in Scotland will be able to access broadband speeds of up to 80 Mbps by the summer as BT engineers deploy the technology needed.
Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s deputy first minister, said: “The scale of the challenge of delivering fibre broadband into rural Scotland is greater than any other part of the UK and indeed, much of Europe.
“It’s fantastic news that these communities and businesses in Monifieth and around the country will soon begin to see the benefits of high quality digital connectivity, making them more economically viable in the long term.”
