R.R. Spink and Sons, a family-run fish company based in Arbroath, has become the first ever fish producer to launch a Freedom Food standard smoked trout.

In a landmark week, the brand also scooped the award for Best Smoked Fish at the Great British Food Farm Produce Awards.

R.R. Spink and Sons has been committed to the welfare of its fish and being able to supply Freedom Foods standards is the ultimate endorsement for the ethical producer.

Endorsed by the RSPCA, Freedom Foods is an assurance the fish have been reared to the highest animal welfare standards throughout the supply chain.

R.R. Spink’s fish products draw on almost 300 years of expertise and are lovingly hand crafted using fresh, quality ingredients.

Its fish are farmed in full tidal loch waters, in low farming density where water is fast moving and high in oxygen.

This mimics the way fish live in the wild, creating happy, healthy fish which ultimately adds to the quality and taste of the end product.

As well as this prestigious accreditation, the brand has also gained significant acclaim from critics for the unrivalled taste of its Kiln Smoked Loch Etive Trout, which won the Best Smoked Fish category at the British Food Farm Produce Awards.
